Comments about the tutorial: This tutorial is about how to make the Sailor Scouts’ glove cuffs (the puffy tubes at the end of the gloves). You can use this tutorial for all the scouts ( yes even Uranus and Neptune. Just put the cuffs on an angle.).

Cosplay Tutorial Contest – How to Make Wings for Flandre Scarlet by Jasmine Davis

Step1: memorize her wings, know the colors of the crystals and know what order they go in. Also keep in mind the frames of her wings are black.

Step 2: Organize your materials. You will need four long strips of cardboard, black spray paint, 16 crystal shaped pieces of cardboard, white spray paint, light blue paint, Blue paint, purple paint,  pink paint, orange paint, yellow paint and light green paint.

Step 3: Spray paint the frame. Take the long strips and the black spray paint outside and spray the strips on one side. When that one side is done spray the other side and after both sides are dry, bring the strips back in.  Also put the black away to reduce cluster

Step 4: Spray paint the crystals. Take the crystals and the white spray paint outside and spray the crystals. These will take longer to dry because you may have to do multiple layers of white spray paint. When the white has dried, bring the crystals back in and put the white away.

Step 5: Paint the crystals. Paint four of the crystals light blue, two of them blue, two of them purple, two of them pink, two of them orange, two of them yellow and two of them light green.

Step 6: Assemble the wings. After the colors on the crystals are done drying, join two of the long pieces of the cardboard together to shape a semi bent elbow. Do the same with the remaining two pieces.

Step 7: Attach the crystals. On one elbow shaped wing glue the crystals on in this order from the base to the tip: Light blue, blue, purple, pink, orange, yellow, light green and light blue.

Step 8: attach the spine. The “spine” goes right on the back side of each wing. This spine can consist of any type of strong, heavy plastic. Attach it by taping it to the back side of your wings.

Step 9: Tape the wings to the inside of your Flandre vest. Usually duct tape works best.

Use staples and duct tape to fix your wings if they come apart. I hope this helps

Comments about the tutorial: My tutorial is on Ranka Lee form Macross Frontier, I really wanted to be accurate to how the art was drawn to a 3D application. I have given tips on how to look better for cameras, since cameras can saturate make-up colours as I’ve learned the hard way. I’ve also shared a few tips I’ve picked up on wigs, eye shadow application and also the products I use which I really love ! They give me the best outcomes without me having to burn a whole in my wallet to pay for them 😛 Hope everyone likes my tutorial and was able to take something form it to apply to your own cosplays :3

Cosplay Tutorial Contest – CardCaptor Sakura “Star Wand Tutorial” by Anna

CardCaptor Sakura
“Star Wand Tutorial”

You will need

  1. Pink Paint
  2. Gold Paint
  3. Foam circle – kinda varies – (I chose I thick one for mine but you can choose a thinner one)
  4. Foam Star
  5. Tiny feather wings
  6. Air-dry Clay
  7. (optional, Red circle gemstone- if you want to be accurate)
  8. Balsa wood stick (1m)
  9. Glue Gun

All these can be purchased from your local arts and crafts store all you need to is ask for them.

Once you have gathered all your required items

Then follow the steps below:

  1. you just simply just pierce a tiny hole into your foam circle
  2. take the wood stick and slide it into the hole
  3. wrap the clay around the stick and cover any gaps made from when you pierced the foam circle
  4. Also you may not see it in the final product picture, but you also need to wrap a thin layer of clay on the bottom of the stick.
    2
  5. To give the star a 3D effect like mine I used the foam star, to choose your star it has to depend on the size of your foam star.
  6. Once you have chosen your foam star simply use your hot glue gun and glue and each of the individual points of the star and place them onto your foam circle

3

After the glue & clay has dried paint your wand as follows:
The star: needs to be painted gold
The circle/stick: pink of course 😉

After everything is all dry, take the feather wing and chop them in half

4

And glue them at either sides of the circle

5
6

Optional (if you want to be accurate like the reference picture ;))
Take the red gemstone and glue it where I marked

7

Tada and you’re done 😉
Follow these easy steps and you’ll have your own star staff of your own

Comments about the tutorial: I was looking around for a tutorial for this and the ones i found really annoyed me because of the the cost going into it so i decided to find a affordable alternative to making this star staff since i mostly had the stuff at home like the paints i just had to run up to my local craft shop and gather the supplies that were missing and the process was really fast while i was making this so i decided that i would be able to commission this as well as many of the other props/accessories that i have made in the past
