Cosplayer Interviews – Aura

Athena Cosplay

We have interviewed many excellent cosplayers. And we really feel deeply appreciated for their patience in answering our questions and sharing us something helpful for cosplay or anything interesting. Today, an Italian girl Aura joined in. She has begun to cosplay since 2003, being absolutely an experienced cosplayer, XD. She is interested in drawing, playing videogames, cosplay and also going out with friends.

This girl is one of our customers in the cosplay talent sponsored program. We are freely customizing the Vocaloid Hatsune Miku Cosplay Costume for her at present. Below, let’s take a look at her cosplay life.

1. Please introduce yourself first.

I’m a just a girl like every other girl in the world…but I have a great passion: Cosplaying! I am a web designer as primary job, so Cosplay should be only an hobby to do in my spare time.. but it takes me so much because I love what I do and I pay so much attention in details ^_^

2. What does cosplay mean to you?

Cosplay is a way to express yourself… it’s ART itself. And it is a way to meet new friends, as well!

3. What and when was your first cosplay?

My passion started in the early 2003 when I went to Lucca Comics & Games and I saw some people dressed as videogames characters. In 2004 I decided to go back to Lucca with the Cosplay of Rinoa Heartilly from Final Fantasy VIII: I realized a dream! From that day I discovered a new world full of friends and fun. Today I have more than 24 costumes, all made by me, and my passion grows day after day.

4. What is your most memorable cosplay experience?

In 2008 I won the first award as “Cosplay Queen” during Cartoomics together with my bestfriend Alessio (DDark). During the same year, with my group of Reyarth, I won the Magic KnightS Award!

5. What’s your favorite photo shoot?

World of Warcraft Bloodelf Priestess Cosplay

It is the last one I did, for sure! With my Bloodelf Priestess from World of Warcraft I won the first prize to become the new testimonial of the convention “Festa dell’Unicorno” here in Italy so I had a shooting with Gionata Bottari and Marco Nardi ^_^ It has been an honor for be beeing their model for a day! Please visit my site to look at the set 🙂

6. What’s your favorite anime/manga/game character to cosplay as?

Both Yoko and Shadow Lady.. I dunno why, but I think they suite me so well! ^_^

7. Any cosplay plan in future?

So much!! First of all, I’ll try to take part to the selection of World Cosplay Summit… I’m already working on the costume, but it is a secret! 😉 I won’t spoiler.

8. Do you make your costumes yourself or buy them?

I always make them, at least I ask for help to my mother when I’m in trouble! I think it is more satisfying when you can say: “Yeah! I did it! And I’m proud of how it turned out!” Of course it happens that someone buy a costume for me as gift.. but I always say, if so! ^_^

9. Any other cosplayers you like?

I really admire Alodia, Ryoko, Lillyxandra and Kamui. I wish to meet them someday. I had not the possibility to travel abroad till now.. unfortunately.

10. Do some changes happen to you after cosplay?

I think that it is always me.. ever 🙂 But I’m more sociable!

11. Any advice you wanna share with cosplay newbies?

Try to do your best, and put LOVE in everything you do!!!!

I’m also a devotee for cosplay. To do well in this performance art, I’m interested in hunting for funny, gorgeous or fantastic pictures. From these breathtaking works and interviews done by cosplay talents, I always get inspired.
