Studio Ghibli-Spirited Away No Face Cosplay (Bath tokens prop)

Now, most of us has seen at least one Studio Ghibli movie and one of my favorites is “Spirited Away”. And, one of my favorite characters is No Face. No face is a spirit that becomes infatuated with the main character Chihiro and as he follows her around the bath house he starts offering her Bath tokens as a ‘Thank you’ and nice gesture toward her, which I find very sweet (I mean who could say no to that face *pun intended*). So because No face is my favorite character I shall be cosplaying a Human version of No face this year at Animazement 2015. And for a prop for No Face I’ll be making the bath tokens, which I will also show you how to make it below.

First things first, you’ll need materials:

Air dry Clay (this can also be substituted with Polymer clay)
All Purpose Acrylic Paint
Mod Podge (You don’t need this but it helps give your tokens a shine)
2 brushes
Sculpting tools
For Polymer Clay:
Colors: Red, Black and Yellow

DIY Tutorial for Matoi Ryuko’s Cosplay Chest Plate from Kill la Kill

The Matoi Ryuko cosplay costume we offered includes the chest protector but it is made of PU leather. If you want it to be more firm like a real chest plate, read this blog and learn to make one by yourself.

Key point: Curve shapes can be easily made by using polythene board, you can also use fiberboard instead.

Material: polythene board(thickness 2mm and 5mm), artificial leather(brown and dark brown), newspaper, nylon belt, snap button(2 set), belt buckle(1), gum tape, sign pen, cutter, G10 glue, glue.

01. Cut the newspaper
Put the newspaper on your chest, draw around the bulge with a sign pen. Cut it around the line you drew. Cut it to make the newspaper flat.

02. Cut the polythene board
Cut two polythene boards (2mm and 5mm each) into the same shape as the newspaper. Stick them together. Draw the cross-shaped pattern on the 2mm side, and then cut the pattern out of the 2mm board only.

03. Stick the artificial leather
Apply G10 glue on the 2mm side, stick the brown leather onto it, press when it comes to the cross-shaped pattern, cut dark brown leather into the the same cross-shaped pattern and then stick it with glue.

04. Connect the nylon belt
One belt around the chest, the other one go across the shoulder from the front to the back, use the snap buttons to fix the belt and add the belt buckle. (Note: Measure your self to check the length of the belt)

DIY Tutorial for Hoozuki Sama’s Spiked Club Cosplay Prop

To cosplay as Hoozuki Sama, the spiked bat in his hand is a highlight.

It is difficult to make the whole bat shape, so it would be easier to start with a similar thing. I suggest you buy a plastic bat.

Material: vinyl bat, fibreboard(thickness 2mm and 5mm), office paper, newspaper, artificial leather(brown and black), plastic capsule(half), cone foam board(20), plastic goldfish scooping net, string(purple), double side tape, gum tape, G10 glue, glue, cutter, scissors.

01. Make the main body
Use the plastic bat as a base, wrap a 5mm fibreboard(same size as the plastic capsule) with G10 glue at the front end of the bat. In order to make it bigger and bigger from the tail to the front, the middle and the tail end of the bat also need to be wrapped with fibreboard.

Fill the interspace with newspaper and wrap the whole bat with office paper, and use gum tape to fix. Then apply G10 glue on the office paper and stick on 5mm fibreboard.

In order to make it stick firmly, you can also apply G10 on the fibreboard and wait till it is dry. Cut 5 holes in a line in four directions on the front end of the bat, remove the extra parts.

02. Make spikes
Use cone foam board to make the spikes. Please note you can not use G10 glue here. You need to wrap the spikes with double side tape and then black artificial leather on the top. Make 20 spikes in such way. (Note: the diameter should be the same as the hole we cat before)

03. Make the loop part at the tail end
Cut two pieces of 3mm fibreboard about the same size as the plastic goldfish scooping net, put the net in between the boards and then stick them together. Wrap it with black artificial leather, insert it into the tail end of the bat and fix with glue.

04. Roll up the artificial leather
Apply G10 glue to the upper part of the bat and the black artificial leather, wrap the leather around the bat. Press slightly when comes to the holes. Do the same with the bottom part but using brown artificial leather. (Note: The width of the artificial leather is about 5cm)

05. Stick the spikes
Cut the leather above the holes and flatten, then stick the spikes we made earlier into the holes.

Tie the purple string to the loop at the tail end. And we’re done!

It is light so that you can wield it.

Demon Weapons are human beings who have the ability to transform into a weapon. At the Death Weapon Meister Academy(DWMA), they are paired up with Meisters, humans who are able to wield them in their Weapon forms. Together, they can achieve a greater amount of power than they would on their own.

Today we’ll have a look at several pairs of Soul Eater Miesters and their Demon Weapons. (We have a little quiz at the end to help you find out you are a Miester or a Weapon.)

Pair 1. Maka Albarn & Soul Eater Evans

Of all the main characters, Maka Albarn seems to be the most normal and civilized one. She frequently studies to remain as a model student.
Maka used to show quick irritation at other characters when they do things that annoy her. Later she became more patient and relaxed.
Maka is very brave, and willing to throw herself at any enemy no matter how strong they are. She is very determined in battle, never giving up fighting even when the chances of her victory look grim.
Maka is enthusiastic, but sometimes takes her enthusiasm too far and can be bossy at times. She is kind and caring to her friends, and even willing to show help towards her enemies.

Evans is Maka Albarn’s Demon Weapon “Death Scythe”.
In contrast with Maka, Soul is very laid-back, impulsive, and nonchalant, as he tries to mold himself to his expectations of how someone ‘cool’ would act.
Later Soul’s personality greatly matures, and his stubborn and headstrong demeanor is replaced by a more cool-headed and serious one. He always tends to think things through before doing certain actions.
Deep down, he is always looking out for his friends, and is even willing to sacrifice himself in order to protect his partner, Maka, showing his bravery and dedication.

Despite their squabbles, Maka and Sould are always able to maintain a solid friend-partner relationship.

No doubt this is the best choice for lovers and friends.
Pair 2. Black☆Star & Tsubaki Nakatsukasa

Black Star is a Shadow Weapon Meister, but unlike most of them, he is rather arrogant, loud immature and egotistic. Although he fights as an assassin, he prefers to forget the Way of Assassination by shouting and making his presence known, the reason being that he is a massive attention-seeker.
His arrogance can also hinder him as he is short-tempered and uncooperative when it comes to team battles, as he always tries to take the lead when the most important thing is to cooperate with each other.

Tsubaki is one of the most mature characters. She is very patient and forgiving.
She has a very magnanimous, polite and gentle personality and always tries to help or comfort her friends.
She prefers to avoid unnecessary conflict, usually being the one who diffuses any arguments between people, making her a dependable and trustworthy friend.

Tsubaki has five Weapon forms: Chain Scythe, Ninja Sword, Shuriken, Smoke bomb, and Dummy Star. Later she inherited Uncanny Sword.

Got an elder sister just like her? Now you’ve found a suitable couple cosplay to do.
Pair 3. Death the Kid & Thompson Sisters

Death the Kid is a funny character due to his obsessive-compulsive personality disorder(OCPD), which psychologically tortures him as well as physically handicapping him on occasions. Objects and surroundings that are symmetrical can distract him from missions, and will usually start to break down and have fits if he notices asymmetrical objects around him.
Kid is naturally calm and collected. However, there are times when his obsession with symmetry can greatly affect his usually calm personality and cause him to break down into childish fits.
He doesn’t appear to have any problem socializing and genuinely cares for his friends.

Double Team Demon Guns / Twin Pistols — Liz & Patty

Definitely a good choice of cosplay for sisters and besties.

Patricia Thompson (Patty) – younger sister
Patty is very naive and simple-minded and doesn’t seem to take anything in a serious manner, but she sometimes can be aggressive. When she loses her temper, her childlike personality is replaced by a somewhat psychotic-seeming anger.

Elizabeth Thompson (Liz) – elder sister
While Patti is very child-like, Liz is more like a teenage girl. She is shown to be extremely afraid of paranormal things. She can also be a little cynical and shallow, and sometimes takes advantage of other people for her own gains. She can be flirtatious and can also be charming to men, mostly in order to deceive them.
