I first started watching/reading Hetalia back in March of last year I think. I first came across many cosplay photos and fanart of the characters and was quite curious. Since then I was hooked. I just adore the personalities of the countries and how they interact. As a lover of history, the historical hints of many different events as well as characters of forgotten countries (Prussia anyone?) really made me happy. Simply put, Hetalia is a funny show and comic about personified countries that will always keep you laughing. It’s so rare for me to find a show that makes me laugh from start to finish and Hetalia is one of them.
I recently started drawing fanart for the show, since I’ve only been drawing for two years and I mostly draw animals. As I’ve grown more confident with drawing humans I’ve been sketching lots of fanart. It’s so fun for me to draw the characters and see my ideas come to life. I love art very much and I’m so happy I can draw fanart for such a wonderful show.
I’m hoping to win a cosplay outfit since I lack the funding to purchase one right now and I’ve always wanted to go to my local cons finally dressed up as one of my favorite characters.

4. How Should I Feel?

Comments from the artist: Drew this while listening to Monster by Meg & Dia. I was thinking about the Revolutionary War. That comic strip and the episode have to be my most favorite. A rare serious moment that was very touching. Made me tear up.
This is actually my first time using Paint Tool SAI and I did it all on one layer as a challenge. It was quite fun.

My obsession with Hetalia began when I first saw the series. I was incredibly bored in history class (and it’s assignments) and as I was doing my history report, I found the show on the featured shows of the day.
I clicked and became an instant fan 🙂
I also like the series because of the beautiful fanarts others post about the characters and their past and I personally think it makes my generation of otakus aware of the world and it’s contents. Before Hetalia, I was absolutely unaware of current events. After Hetalia, I found that researching and learning about each countrys’ past are incredibly amusing and even fun! Also the show helped me find amazing friends and got me out of my gloomy mindset…so in other words, Hetalia saved my life 🙂

hola, hello, Ciao call me Italian Pasta maybe even Italy either way the nicknames belong to the same person and currently i am a senior in high school. My obsession with Hetalia started when a friend kept mentioning it to me so i decided to check it out. i was instantly glued to the anime and now two years later i still am! i love Hidekaz Himaruya drawing style so much that i began doodling on all my school work; i cant go a day without drawing Italy or America on my homework. i love Hetalia so much that i own all three limited edition DVDs and Hetalia Paint it White. i cosplay as Italy or America at cons or even just for fun i also make Hetalia ahoges out of hair extensions, wire and gel. i feel like the meaning of Hetalia is that its ok to laugh at yourself once in a while ’cause no matter what war you’re involved in friends are always there to help you out.
