Mikay’s Naruto Cosplays!

1. Anime: Naruto

Character: Lady Tsunade

Comment: These photos were taken by JRM Photography. I had a lot of fun picking a random yet interesting place to take the photoshoot. The lighting used is all natural sunlight, and the water was very warm! I really hope everyone likes all the photos!

2. Anime: Naruto Shippuden

Character: Gaara

Comment: Photos were taken by a cousin of mine. It was during the spring when the cherry blossom tree in her back yeard was in full bloom, so we took the opportunity to get a photoshoot in. I adore Gaara so much! He’s definatly one of my favorite characters in Naruto. 🙂

Q: Which Naruto costume listed as prizes do you most want?

A: I would have to pick Shippuden Hinata . I’ve been wanting to cosplay her for a while now, she’s just so cute. 🙂

Q: Are you often photographed? Since many cosplayer (especially beginners) feel nervous or unnatural while facing the lens, would you like to sharing us some experience or skills here?

A: I’m photographed a decent amount to never be shy about it. Especially at conventions I attend. But besides that I have a few photographer friends who take professional photos for me. I use to be very shy in front of the camera, but I always keep in mind that while in cosplay, I can be this character! Maybe being shy looking fits them, if not, then try roleplaying with friends to get more into character. Doing this in front of the camera helps bring the character to life!

Q: Is there any cosplay plan you are rather interested in yet not able to do it due to some reasons? And what is your next plan?

A: My next cosplay plan is Ukraine from Hetalia. Currently, due to money issues, I’ve not started on her, but hope to before the next convention I plan to attend. I tend to pick characters that fit me by personality and my appearence, so Ukraine interested me alot!

I’m Loriann Boynton and I’ve been Cosplaying now for six years. And for the past year and a half I’ve been Cosplaying in a group a friend and I created called Kaizen Cosplay, though we are a small group we don’t let that slow us down. We are very active in our passion for Anime and Cosplay and are constantly doing photo shoots and Conventions. Q: Which Naruto costume listed as prizes do you most want?

A: To be honest the costume wasn’t the reason I did this contest and would love to win, I really just want to share my love for cosplay to others with the same passion. But if I did I’d pick the Kakashi because he is one of my favorite characters in the show and mostly because of his back story and his fight with Hidan and Kakusu was epic I feel that was the best representation of him as a ninja and I’d love to cosplay him.

Q: What’s attractive to you about cosplay?

A: What’s attractive to me about cosplay is the detail someone can put into a costume to make it that much better and the most accurate. It’s about finding a character you love and being able to bring them to life not only in costume but in personality I love it when cosplayers take attention to detail and actions because I feel that’s what makes them feel real is when you can “be” that character.

Q: Your most memorable moment while cosplay?

A: The great thing about cosplay is there are so many memorable moments, but having to pick I’d like to say my most memorable moments happened when I was being Naruto. At my very first con and first year of Anime Boston I was standing in line with my friends and my sister when I was grabbed from behind while I had been talking and next thing I knew I was very far away from where I had just been. Looking over my shoulder I was surrounded by Akatsuki and they were like “We got him leader we got him!” At that moment it showed me how you can not only dress as a character but to make yourself better and have more fun you can interact and act like that given character it was very startling as a new cosplayer but it was hilarious and thanks to my Iruka- sensei I was saved from the fate of the Akatsuki but that will always stay strong in my mind because it taught me a lot of how I want to be and how much fun you can have at a con even just by waiting in line! 😀

Q: Are you often photographed? Since many cosplayer (especially beginners) feel nervous or unnatural while facing the lens, would you like to sharing us some experience or skills here?

A: I am often photographed yes, and it can be a little nerve racking at first I myself wasn’t natural in front of the camera either but once you get past the first few akward poses I always find myself sinking into how I want myself to look and how I want others to see me. So then I push aside my worry and just do what that character would do, and show the best pose that I have so people see the hard work and love that went into my cosplay. I think beginners just need to remember cosplaying is fun and everyone was nervious at some point its ok to be shy but as long as you are having fun and enjoy every minute then go ahead strike your best pose for the camera you’ll do great!

Q: Is there any cosplay plan you are rather interested in yet not able to do it due to some reasons? And what is your next plan?

A: For my next plan are short annimations on Deviantart, or youtube small stuff until Kaizen Cosplay is comfortable and able to fully handle the demands of a music vedio style plan. The reason it will be a process in the making is because right now my friend and I don’t live as close as we used to so we have to really plan in advance on time and what cosplays we are going to do. As well as our knowledge on the subject of music vedios and small annimations because we haven’t done anything like it before so it will be a new and fun experience whenever we can get in that direction.

Q: Which cons do you want to participate recently? What is your favorite part about going to cons?

A: Anime Boston deffinatly a top convention for me I love going and I wouldn’t miss it for any year its being held. My favorite part about going to cons are the connects with other cosplayers you can make everyone is like a big family and so far I’ve only met wicked nice people as well as amazing insperations. I love going to see how hard people have been working for months to get ready for the con and getting to talk and share complements as well as stories and just build friendships and have fun with others. Because again that’s what cosplay is all about having fun! Doing what you love! And getting the best experience out of anime that you can!

Q: How do your family members think of your cosplay? Do you also feel interested and support you?

A: My family at first wasn’t so supportive they didn’t ever tell me not to do it. However, they didn’t exactly give me a lot of view point on my growing passion. But it didn’t take long and now for the past five years of my cosplay life they have been very, very supportive. To the point it’s almost too much support because my mom is always asking me when I do a cosplay outside of the Naruto anime. “Why aren’t you cosplayingpein?” “Is something wrong with your Narutocosplay how come you aren’t going as him?” It’s very funny and if it wasn’t for that kind of support I don’t think I’d be enjoying this love for cosplay as much because I wouldn’t be in the great environment that I am. When my mom is showing people pictures of me in cosplay on her phone I know that she stands with me on cosplay with a strong level of support. And it’s not just her my sister was the one that made my first con possible and ever since my niece was seven I’ve been having her cosplay with me and sharing everything I can about cosplay with her she’s twelve now and she’s actually started branching off from my cosplay plans and doing costumes of her own favorite shows.

Hi, my name is Jill! I’ve been an anime fan since 2002, and got into cosplaying four years later. My only regret is that I didn’t get into it sooner, but it was a world I never knew existed until I attended my very first con- Anime Boston 2006. Comments: I am a long time fan of Naruto, and Hinata Hyuga was my very first Naruto cosplay. I will admit that I only decided on this character for my husband, who often cosplays Naruto and has a bit of a Hinata fixation. But, to my surprise, I ended up having more fun cosplaying Hinata than any character I’ve done thus far! We’re a lot alike- she’s a shy girl with hidden prowess- just like me!

I wore this costume at Anime Boston 2011 and Otakon 2011. It was a very comfy cosplay to wear! My 3 favorite things about it were my wig (super silky and shiny), my makeup (I take pride in my makeup skills), and my sandals (made by my talented husband).

Q: Which Naruto costume listed as prizes do you most want?

A: Let me just say first of all that I appreciate cosplay makers like you SO much! I have absolutely ZERO sewing talent. This opens up so many more possibilities for cosplay. I definitely want the Tsunade one! I have thought about cosplaying her for some time now. This looks like another comfy cosplay to wear.

Q: What’s attractive to you about cosplay?

A: I love that cosplay allows you to be anyone you want to be. There is fun in dressing up, of course, but cosplay is so much more. You ARE your character!

Q: Your most memorable moment while cosplay?

A: Wow, I have so many! One of my favorites was cute and fanservice-y. While cosplaying Hinata and Naruto at AB 2011, my husband and I were taking part in a Naruto photo shoot. We kissed and suddenly were the center of attention and had to pose for a lot more kiss photos. Someone shouted, “Aww, now you guys have to get married!” I found it amusing to know that we already are!

Q: Are you often photographed? Since many cosplayer (especially beginners) feel nervous or unnatural while facing the lens, would you like to sharing us some experience or skills here?

A: As Hinata, I had more photos taken of me than I ever have before! And I loved every minute of that- I was so flattered that people wanted photos of ME! My advice is to feel that way when someone asks for a photo. Don’t be nervous- just feel honored that they like your cosplay!

Q: Is there any cosplay plan you are rather interested in yet not able to do it due to some reasons? And what is your next plan?

A: My next planned cosplay for the 2012 con season is Rangiku Matsumoto from Bleach. I love her hair, her attitude, and I have the rack to pull it off! I will, of course, have Captain Hitsugaya by my side.

My “dream” cosplay is another couples’ cosplay with my husband. Can you tell we love doing those? I want to do a dark version of Princess Zelda to match his Dark Link. . . ah, someday!

Q: Which cons do you want to participate recently? What is your favorite part about going to cons?

A: I am a 6 year veteran of Anime Boston- beginning in 2006, I have been there each year no matter what! Other past cons for me have been Another Anime Con 2007, Otakon 2010 and 2011, and Connecticon 2011.

In 2012, I have plans to attend Anime Boston, Connecticon, and Otakon. One of these times, I plan to finally be able to go to my first Anime Expo! We thought about that for 2012, but chose Otakon instead, where all of our friends will be!

Q: How do your family members think of your cosplay? Do you also feel interested and support you?

A: My family really didn’t “get it” at first, I think. I’m pretty sure they all thought I was completely crazy! But now, all of my non-anime family and friends really look forward to seeing our latest pictures and hearing our stories when we return from conventions. My father actually likes to come and visit Anime Boston sometimes when we are there. He calls it “Halloween on steroids!”

Comments: This photo was taken at New York Comic Con this year by my extremely talented friend Ger. She is an AMAZING photographer. This was my favorite shot from the set she took of me as Itachi. I thought the lighting and composition were awesome and it shows the whole outfit! ^^ The only thing you cant really see is my mangekyo sharingans. Comments: This costume was debuted at Otakon 2011 and was made by me (except the shoes =P ) the wig is styled by me as well as the shuriken is made by me. The tattoos took a total of 3 hours to put on! But I was extremely happy with the result and had an awesome time that day!

Comments: Gaara was debuted at Otakon 2011. It was HOT out and boy did that heavy gourd not help, but we met a really awesome photographer, Andrew, there who was nice enough to do a mini photoshoot for me, my boyfriend as Asuma, and my other friend Alexa as Yuna from Final Fantasy. My cosplay and gourd were both made by me, and the gourd weighs about 15-20 pounds. This is my favorite picture of me as Gaara!

Q: Which Naruto costume listed as prizes do you most want?

A: I usually try to make my own cosplays unless its something too complicated for me (I only just recently began to learn!) so I would say the Kakashi one!

Q: What’s attractive to you about cosplay?

A: I have so many great memories about cosplay and conventions. I have met so many wonderful people and made so many friends, some of which are my closest friends to this day! I love cosplaying because it gives you a chance to escape reality and just have fun!

Q: Your most memorable moment while cosplay?

A: Probably my first convention ever, Anime Boston 2008. I couldn’t believe how many other people like me there were out there, and everyone was so nice! I had such a great experience and because of it I still go to conventions as often as I can!

Q: Are you often photographed? Since many cosplayer (especially beginners) feel nervous or unnatural while facing the lens, would you like to sharing us some experience or skills here?

A: When I am at conventions I get photographed a good amount. The best advice I can give is to relax, have fun, and get into character as best as possible!

Q: Is there any cosplay plan you are rather interested in yet not able to do it due to some reasons? And what is your next plan?

A: My dream cosplay that I haven’t been able to do yet is Sasuke’s stage 2 curse mark form, with wings. Since I am new at making my own cosplays, I am kind of intimidated by the wings, but it might be happening soon with the help of some friends! My up coming plans are Pain, Temari, and shippuden Sasuke, all at Katsucon in February =)

Q: Which cons do you want to participate recently? What is your favorite part about going to cons?

A: I go to Anime Boston every year with out fail =) This upcoming year, I am aiming to to go Katsucon, Anime Boston, Otakon, and I would love to go to Anime USA for the first time!

Q: How do your family members think of your cosplay? Do you also feel interested and support you?

A: My family doesn’t know much about Japanese anime, but they admire my creativity and think it’s great that I have learned to sew and that I have fun doing it. They know it makes me happy and that I make a lot of friends through it so they support me as much as they can.

Hi, my name is Kate and I’m 17 year old and I love to Cosplaying and Anime. I live in Australia and my parents think I’m crazy and weird for cosplaying but they get a laugh out of it. A: I’m debating on which one I would like more…but for now it’s a three way tie between Sasuke’s Shippuden, Kakashi and Gaara

Q: What’s attractive to you about cosplay?

A: Well just the thought of going around as a character and just seeing how much fun people have

Q: Your most memorable moment while cosplay?

A: Hmmmmm…….probably when there was a group of Naruto cosplayers just standing around doing nothing I just ran in the middle (dressed as Naruto) and just started dancing and soon we have a naruto rave!!

Q: Are you often photographed? Since many cosplayer (especially beginners) feel nervous or unnatural while facing the lens, would you like to sharing us some experience or skills here?

A: Yea most of the time……but just what you have to do is just smile and it will all be over in one flash!!!

Q: Is there any cosplay plan you are rather interested in yet not able to do it due to some reasons? And what is your next plan?

A: I would really really really love to get a 9 tailed fox quad suit……but I don’t really have the skill to make it…..but I will learn!!!

Q: Which cons do you want to participate recently? What is your favorite part about going to cons?

A: My favorite part about going to a con is to see all the awesome Cosplay and meet new people and to make friends!

Q: How do your family members think of your cosplay? Do you also feel interested and support you?
