I ordered a custom size of this cosplay (putting my exact measurements). The clothing itself is very detailed (especially that beautiful torso) and fits absolutely perfectly around my bust, torso, and waist. The main piece (the dress) feels very comfortable, and includes many of the little details on Miku's dress. I have a couple of qualms with the cosplay as it is, however.
The first is regarding the length of the dress. Miku's actual dress is pictured as being rather short (going up to about mid-thigh), which is around what I expected the length of the dress to be. However, the dress I received went all the way down to my knees and even a bit further, which I found to be highly inaccurate. I am altering the dress to make it shorter to stay truer to the character, but I can see there being some frustration if people do not know about this when they order the dress.
The second is that I found the shoulder straps to be very loose on my body (perhaps there is a fix for this?). I find that the straps are constantly falling off my shoulders and see no way to fixate them further to my shoulders.
The third is that the arm pieces are also very loose. There is an elastic attached to each of the arm pieces that I assume are meant to fit around the shoulder, but that would make the cosplay inaccurate again, as the actual Miku wears them halfway down her upper arm. Maybe I just have a small shoulder issue but these elastic bands don't stay up either even if I put them on my shoulders.
The fourth was that the musical symbol attached to the dress did not really look like the proper musical symbol, and it appears to have been hot glued to the dress. Admittedly, I will be removing the symbol and remaking it after altering the length of the dress.
Other than the above four points, I am fairly happy with the cosplay and look forward to wearing it at my next convention!
The main character, a high school teacher and the youngest son of the Itoshiki family. He always wears a hakama and kimono abroad, preferring flippant casual western clothing in his hometown. When his name is written horizontally it resembles zetsubō (絶望?, "beyond hope" or "despair"), befitting his extremely negative, paranoid and pessimistic attitude. He often shouts "I'm in despair!" and attempts suicide several times, though rarely with serious intent. Most of the main girls seem to have feelings for him but only because they misunderstand what he said to each of them (during the episodes introducing them). His negative personality started blossoming when he was in his first year of high school when he 'accidentally' joined a 'Negative' club. He is based upon the main character from Dazai Osamu's No Longer Human, which is both Nozomu's and the author's favorite novel.
